What Sets Us Apart
Our Intervention Model
Our model is based on our belief of reaching every step where a child needs support, in terms of education, family support, or any other area as a matter of his/her right. These needs of the child are well recognised by the country’s various laws, policies and programs, commitments and international covenants. As part of the global community India is also aiming at achieving the dream of full development of our society by the year 2047. In light of these commitments, we have full faith in the government’s programs and actions, however, we also believe that there is a lot of scope for private partnership in these goals and aims. Without the participation of people, this journey is difficult given the sheer size and diversity of the populations. Therefore, our intervention model is mindfully designed to strengthen the government’s resolve and policies at all the levels. We work with the Anganwadis and Balwadis being run by the district administration and the state bodies. We provide them handholding support, we provide them additional work force, materials, trainings and other such inputs which strengthen the ground level work. Our models are a result of over 3 decades of various interventions throughout the country by experts associated with us. We are happy that our model has travelled from the conceptual stages of the decades to actual implementation paving way for outstanding results in changing the way children can learn and live better, specifically children belonging to the disadvantaged groups, regions, etc. and those who are vulnerable to violation of their rights.

Our Beliefs
We believe that every child has a natural gift for learning, progress and peace. Conflicts (any form of divergence from the normal) mostly arrive in their lives not due to their own shortfalls but by a variety of reasons, ranging from socio-political, economic to family or community specific issues. The conflicts often result in violations of the rights of the children thus leaving a mark on their mental and social well-being. The communities and families where children live have an inherent resilience and in-built protection mechanisms for preserving most of the basic rights of the children, but are poorly equipped to handle children due to lack of resources, lack of know-how, lack of exposure to the outside world, natural or man-made crises, poverty, and other such issues. With proper inputs the families and communities can be equipped to change the existing situations with a direct and positive impact on the education, care, well-being and development of their children. But, given the geographical and demographic extent, providing specialised services (both content as well as outreach) at every door-steps is a very difficult task. Billion Steps Foundation has started on this mission to reach out to every foot-step by taking one step at a time and in no time billions of steps will come together.

Our Journey
Billion Steps Foundation was established to address the urgent need for child protection and advocacy in India. Over the years, we have expanded our efforts across various states, including Delhi, Rajasthan, and Odisha. Our community-based projects have created safe spaces for children from disadvantaged backgrounds, promoting their rights through education and support services. Together with dedicated volunteers and partners, we have made strides in creating awareness and driving change within communities.
